This course is designed to serve as an introduction to the sociological and anthropological study of gender and sexuality. Throughout this course, gender and sexuality will be approached as socially, historically, and culturally contingent concepts, and will consider the ways gender intersects with other aspects of social life such as socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and race.
