Humanities and Social Sciences

The Humanities and Social Sciences (ACA-HUMMS) strand is designed for those who wonder what is on the other side of the wall. In other words, you are the type of person who is ready to take on the world and talk to a lot of people.

This strand is for those who are considering taking up journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education, and other social science-related courses in college.

If you take this strand, you could be looking forward to a career in:

  • Communication Arts: With various communication disciplines, techniques, and skills learned from HUMSS strand, you can become a diplomat, a journalist, a writer, and a lawyer among others
  • Economics and Sociology: If you have the guts and ideals to go into politics, civil leadership, or community work, the HUMSS strand got you covered. You can also be involved with careers on history, public administration, social work, anthropology, environmental planning, or theology or priesthood.
  • Education: Possible careers after taking HUMSS strand also include teacher, professionals in literature, philosophy, guidance counselling, linguistics, Philippine Studies, and English. In the HUMSS curriculum, you will deal with human experiences through which your lessons would be developed.
  • Psychology: Other fields that you could qualify for are psychotherapy, market research, criminology, and military science.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the Humanities and Social Sciences strand, all you have to do is present proof to the SHS Registrar that you finished Grade 10 and you passed the NCAE.
