Biography
Dr. Linnie Sugabo Viernes is an educator of humble beginnings, seasoned by the time and expertise and a destined mentor of the young and deserving students, at the same time a molder of public opinion. She served Negros Oriental State University, Guihulngan Campus (NORSU-G) formerly known as Guihulngan Vocational School and Central Visayas Polytechnic College (CVPC) for forty (40) years. She was brought to the highest office of the said campus yet great humility still within her.
In her Undergraduate Level, she earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education (BSIE) at Cebu School of Arts and Trades, Cebu City now Cebu Technological University in 1974. Propelled by ambition, she proceeded to the Graduate Level and finished Master in Educational Management (MAEM) in 1986, and finally acquired her Doctor of Education major in Educational Management at Foundation University (FU), Dumaguete City in 1990.
She is a consistent honor student from elementary, secondary and college days thus she graduated as Cum Laude. It was for this reason, that she was granted three (3) Eligibilities (First, Second and Teacher Eligible) under Presidential Decree 907. In spite of the said eligibility, she took Professional Board Examination for Teachers (PBET) and passed, thus she was granted Licensure Examination in the year 1976.
She was an Accredited Professor thus she was given numerous position which started as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Technology and finally Campus Administrator. She was also appointed as Resident Ombudsman by Region VII in the said campus.
She claimed that after her retirement at NORSU in 2013, Negros College Incorporated (NCI) is her second home and promise to serve till able. After all it is said and done, aptly and proudly she said, “NCI: My School, My Work and My Life.”
