This course aims to engage students in critical study and appreciation of 21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World encompassing their various dimensions, genres, elements, structures, contexts, and traditions.

Twenty-First Century Literature from the Philippines and the World is the journey in searching for knowledge about the geographic, linguistic, and ethnic dimensions of Philippine literacy history from pre-colonial to the contemporary period.

This subject includes:

  • Comparison of 21st Century Literature by region with focus on:
    1. Various dimensions of Philippine literacy history
    2. Canonical authors and works of Philippine National Artist in Literature
    3. Name of authors and their works
    4. Backgrounds of the literature from the regions where the high school is located.
  • Literary genres, traditions and forms from: Asia, Anglo-America, Europe Latin America and Africa.
  • Study and appreciation of literary texts from the different regions including:
    1. Regions in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao
    2. Major genres (poetry, fiction, drama creative non-fiction, as well as hyper poetry, blogs, mobile phone Texttula, click Lit, speculative fiction, flash-fiction, etc.)
