Face-to-Face graduation rites possible for AY 2021-2022

Negros College is highly considering holding a face-to-face (F2F) graduation ceremony for the academic year 2021-2022 for the first time after two years.

This development came after the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved the request of the school to conduct an in-person commencement rites for College, Senior High School, and Junior High School.

According to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Maximina Deguit, preparations have been done in coordination with the different departments of the college and the local IATF on how to conduct in-person graduation ceremonies safely considering the on-going COVID threat.

Mr. Efren Academia, Student Affairs Director in his letter addressed to the local IATF, emphasized that only vaccinated students and parents will be allowed to participate the F2F graduation. For unvaccinated individuals, a negative RTCPR test result taken within 72 hours will be required. Health protocols will be strictly implemented such as wearing of face masks, hand sanitation, and social distancing.

Jalibe Quibal, a graduating BSOA could not keep his excitement after knowing the possibility of having the F2F graduation. “I am happy and thankful to God nga mupaso dyud mi pag receive sa among diploma. Thank you, NC, for this opportunity to let us experience F2F graduation”, he added.

Walking in the aisle together with our parents as we take our final moment as a student is one of our biggest dreams and achievements, shared Jean Bolongaita a BEEd graduating student. She exclaimed that finally after all the sacrifices and challenges finishing the course during the pandemic, she will be able to receive her diploma in-person with her parents watching. “Basun madayun gyud ni as I could no longer wait to wear the toga”, she quipped.

According to the college calendar, the commencement exercises will be held on May 25 for college, May 26 for Senior High School, and May 27 for Junior High School. This will be held at the Ayungon Gymnasium.
