BFP Ayungon Kicks Off Fire Prevention Month in NC Campus
To intensify fire safety awareness in the Municipality of Ayungon, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Ayungon kicked off the Fire Prevention Month at Negros College (NC) on Monday, February 28, 2022.
NC Safety Officers Mary Jane Catubig and Marifel Alpuerto, in collaboration with the BFP Ayungon and LDRRMO, conducted a refresher campaign on fire safety tips. A brief lecture on the importance of conducting this annual activity was held at the school’s conference hall attended by school administrators, faculty and staff. A demonstration on fire safety tips followed shortly at the open court wherein participants were asked to put out the fire from a burning LPG tank using fire blanket and fire extinguisher. The NC administration thanked the Ayungon Fire Station personnel headed by SFOIII Hector Villasario and LDRRMO led by Mr. Arvin Y. Alpuerto for choosing NC to hold this significant activity.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog Hindi ka Nag-iisa.” March was declared as Fire Prevention Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A signed by then President Ferdinand Marcos in 1966 due to the alarming increase of fire incidents happening in the country at the time.
